EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE
From: Sunday 03 August 2008 To: Monday 25 August 2008

What began as a couple of shows in a leaky-roofed pub just off Edinburgh's Royal Mile is now the biggest arts festival in the world.
Last year the Edinburgh Fringe Festival featured an astonishing 28,000 performances in 261 venues throughout Scotland's capital city. And this year's programme promises lots more of the same, showcasing the very best in comedy, theatre, music, dance and children's entertainment.
Over a third of the 1800 different shows featured in last year's Fringe were world premieres and many of them were completely free. The Fringe Festival has always promised open access for all artists, launching the careers of loads of big stars along the way. What's really special is the inspirational mix of performers The Fringe attracts. From mime artists to magicians, comedians to circus acts, expect to be wowed by the sheer variety of weird and wonderful acts you'll come across.
Throughout August, the streets of Edinburgh are spilling over with Fringe-goers so there's a fantastic carnival atmosphere in the city. And the party doesn't stop when the curtain goes down. Many pubs and clubs share in the spirit of The Fringe, staying open until 3am and hosting fantastic events of their own. It's no wonder that the Rough Guide voted Edinburgh in the summer the UK's number one tourist experience.
2008 is the 62nd Festival Fringe and will take place from 3rd August - 25th August. It should not be missed!
