TRAINSPOTTING
From: Monday 01 January 2007 To: Tuesday 01 January 2008
Hailed by Empire and Time Out magazines as the best British film of the decade, Trainspotting was set in Scotland's capital. Based on the book by Scot's author Irvine Welsh, and starring three of our best homegrown actors - Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and the gorgeous Kelly McDonald - the film was shot in various locations throughout Scotland.
Edinburgh locations include the city's Calton Road and Princes Street, where McGregor and co-star Ewan Bremner are chased by store detectives in the dramatic opening scenes. Filming also took place in Rannoch Moor (Perthshire), the destination for the aborted trip to the countryside. Fans can also take part in a Trainspotting literary tour of Edinburgh's famous Leith area, the setting of this now, iconic movie.
