BURNS AN' A' THAT! FESTIVAL

From: Saturday 17 May 2008  To: Sunday 25 May 2008

Burns an' a' that - the annual festival celebrating Scotland's national poet Robert Burns - is bigger and better than ever for 2008.

Burns was known as one of the most passionate, inspiring, and forward thinking pioneer of his generation. Known in Scotland as 'The Bard' he is almost as well known for his love of the ladies as he is for his world famous songs and poems, including the Auld Lang Syne, which even today is still the musical standard used to herald the beginning of a new year all over the world.

Burns travelled throughout Scotland where he gathered inspiration for much of his work. The stunning scenery of his Ayrshire homeland, as well as the nearby romantic setting of Dumfries, provided the inspiration form much of his best-loved works.

The area is the stunning setting for the 7th annual 'Burns an' a' that!' Festival celebrating his short but remarkable life with nine days full of performances of the song and poetry of Burns, and much more besides. On the bill this year are rock stalwarts Status Quo, top Scots stand up comedian Fred MacAulay and an exhibition of new works by acclaimed Scots artist Jacki Parry,

Burns an' a' that! 2008 is set to be the best yet. Check out the latest on the programme at  burnsfestival.com
