EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO
From: Friday 01 August 2008 To: Saturday 23 August 2008
It's one of the most spectacular entertainments on the world stage today. Every year, more than 100 million people from around the globe watch the Tattoo on TV. And if you're one of the 11 million who've experienced the excitement of the Tattoo live, we don't have to tell you what an enduring spectacle it really is.
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place against the striking backdrop of the capital's most historic landmark, Edinburgh Castle. In the 50 or so years since it began, more than 40,000 performers have taken part. The highlight of the event is the Massed Drums and Pipes, with an average of 1000 participants taking part each night. The roar of the drums carries all across the Edinburgh skies, so if you've not been lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket for the event, head into town anyway and soak up the incredible atmosphere.
And don't miss the Spirit of The Tattoo visitors centre, open daily all through the summer. Discover the real story behind this historic event and watch the best bits of the performances on the in-house cinema. There's a fabulous rooftop café, where you can take in wonderful views over the city as you enjoy a coffee or a specially brewed Tattoo Ale.
