GALLERY OF MODERN ART, GLASGOW
From: Monday 01 January 2007 To: Friday 31 December 2010
The second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London, Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art is housed in an elegant neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Refurbished to house the city's impressive contemporary art collection, the building itself is a striking combination of old and new architecture, incorporating a number of artists' commissions.
Temporary exhibitions include Roderick Buchanan's Histrionics, which explores the controversial subject of sectarianism. Born and raised in Glasgow, Buchanan has already produced several works addressing ideas of identity and Scottish culture. The exhibition is the centrepiece of the Blind Faith series, a major integrated programme of exhibitions, events and activities to raise awareness of the issues surrounding sectarianism. Thought provoking, relevant and definitely worth a visit.
